Tudor Day at Basing House

Tudor Day at Basing House

I spent the day at Basing House at their Tudor Day. It was really good.

There were Tudor costumed people including Anne Boleyn.

There were Tudor crafts and I made a Tudor Rose.

We could dress up in Tudor costumes.

I saw how yarn was spun and dyed.

And I dyed my own yarn with lots of different dyes: black tea, beetroot, nettle, turmeric, blueberry, blackcurrant, buddliea, white onion and paprika.

Later, I will use a Lucet to make a friendship bracelet.

We listened to some Tudor musicians and did a Tudor dance called the horse dance. We started in a horseshoe shape and walked round to the left and clapped, then back to the right and clapped, and we did that twice. Then four people spun round to the other side of the horseshoe and then we pranced like horses. It was good fun.

We saw a falconry display

We listened to a story teller and did Hobby Horse jousting.
